The Production Company - An Australian-American Alliance

From 2004-2010, The Production Company (Mark Armstrong, Artistic Director) fostered challenging new work for the theater by United States and Australian playwrights. By invigorating artistic exchange between these countries, The Production Company provoked audiences to consider the relationship between the US and Australia and the broader issue of cross-cultural exchange.

Over six seasons, the company produced 31 new plays by playwrights Van Badham, Trista Baldwin, Courtney Baron, Frank Basloe, Stephen Belber, Alan Berks, Alexandra Collier, Patricia Cornelius, Brendan Cowell, Anthony Crowley, Ben Ellis, Wesley Enoch, Michael John Garcés, Veronica Gleeson, Trudy Hellier, Lally Katz, Brett C. Leonard, Elise McCredie, Elizabeth Meriwether, Ross Mueller, Tommy Murphy, Brett Neveu, Dan O’Brien, Kate Moira Ryan, Betty Shamieh, Blair Singer, Ken Urban, Emma Vuletic, Kathryn Walat and Beau Willimon.

The Production Company’s work was acclaimed by the New York Times, Village Voice, New York Press, nytheatre.com, Backstage, Show Business Weekly, and many other publications, as well as being featured in the Brooklyn Rail and Feministing.
